Dale Snow
Dale Dean Snow 61, Richmond, Mo., passed away Saturday,
March 29, 2008 at the Liberty Hospital. Dean was born on August
16, 1946 in Crawford County, Kans., the son of Merle and Ruth (Long)
Snow. He was a very caring compassionate person who never met a
stranger. He always put everyone elses needs before his own.
He was a graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Dallas,
Texas. Dean was a Funeral Director and Embalmer. He purchased Gowing-Snow
Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo., in 1987 and then operated Snow Funeral
Home in Richmond for over 20 years. He also had Snow Funeral Home
in Wellington for several years. He served as National Deputy Commander
of D-Mort under Tom Shepardson and was former commander of Region
7 D-Mort, where he was still an active member. Dean served as Ray
County Coroner for 24 years and was a member of the Missouri Medical
Examiners and Coroners Association and had served on the board.
He was a member of the Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers
Association for many years. He was a Rotarian where he had received
the Paul Harris Award. Dean was a founder, former president, and
served on the board of Ideal Industries, Richmond, Mo., was a member
and a past president of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, was one
of the founders of the Richmond Mushroom Festival, served on the
Ray County Fair Board for many years, served on the Board for the
Ray County Fellowship Center, and was a board member of Ducks Unlimited
for many years. Dean served on many other service organizations
and performed much community service over the years.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Snow, Clinton, Mo.; the love
of his life, Robin Outersky and her daughter, Marcie, of the home;
one daughter, Dawn Schumacher and husband, Patrick, Lexington, Ky.;
one brother, Charles E. "Gene" and wife, Janis, Columbia,
Mo.; two sisters, JoAnne Steimer, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Joyce Cunningham
and husband, Gary, Pittsburg, Kans., and one grandson, Alex Schumacher.
He is also survived by three step-sons, Chris, Andy, and Scott Holm,
and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Richmond United
Methodist Church, Richmond, Mo. Burial and committal services will
be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Urich Cemetery, Urich, Mo. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Polley
Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family suggests
memorial contributions be given to Ideal Industries of Richmond,
Mo., Ray County Vets Club, or D-Mort
